Okay, I have finally acceptd it. I have failed with the SideShooter
stage... :(
As you know, my original goal was to make a highly playable shooter
running at a full 50/60fps on 14 MHz A1200s w/FastRAM or better...
I have been finding it increasingly difficult to bring myself to work on
this project as it seems futile when you know that you have already
failed, and even after you add everything making your stage
complete you have still failed, as it's not going to run at a steady
50/60fps on 14MHz A1200s w/FastRAM...
I've stopped work again for another 4 days due to this, but I'm not
giving it any more thought and am just going to throw together the
remaining bits and call it "done".
Anyway, sorry about this. I really tried to reach a solid 50/60 fps,
but in the end I am unable to hit that goal. No matter what I do in
the code, it's impossible to speed things up as the gfx-updates
are using so much time there is very little left for the actual code
processing.
If the AMOS gfx-commands were just a little faster, about 20%
would make all the difference. As they currently are, it's simply
impossible to have everything running at a solid 50/60fps with no
slow-down!!!!!
Next time, I'm scaling back on the game-design or else sticking
with a 25/30 fps frame-rate...
Take care,
GARFIELD
